The Civic Light Opera has reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs to be the resident Musical Theatre Company at the historic Warner Grand in San Pedro, California.
Executive Producer and founder of the Civic Light Opera, James Blackman, is excited to be working in San Pedro, Los Angeles’s little San Francisco with better weather. He can’t wait to contribute his time and energy along with The Grand Vision Foundation, local Arts Pioneers, Restaurateurs, Entrepreneurs, Businesses, Historical Preservationists and all the citizens as San Pedro concludes its full finale of its revitalization plan and rebirth of this most historic and important city.

The Civic Light Opera is the resident Musical Theatre Company for The City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs at the historic Warner Grand, San Pedro, and is the most awarded Theater Company in Los Angeles. This not-for-profit, cultural arts institution is dedicated to the preservation of our historic venue and the presentation of our unique, American art forms. James A. Blackman III, who has served as the Executive Director for over the last 20 years, founded the Company in 1991.
