DONATE NOW El Segundo Playhouse Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities

Supporters of the Civic Light Opera speak out…

Give them a break

Regarding the rumored lawsuit filed against the Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities (CLOSBC)

To the city of Redondo Beach:

A lawsuit? Really? CLOSBC clearly needs to pay the debt they owe the city, but how can they do that if you keep putting roadblocks in their way? First the Traffic Impact Study and now the lawsuit?

To the thousands of patrons that have enjoyed award-winning live theater productions produced by CLOSBC for the past 20 years: I don't know about you, but my friends and I have missed our theater evenings this year. Perhaps it's time for all of us (the theater patrons) to step up and help CLOSBC pay off their debt to the City of Redondo Beach. If each of us sat down today and sent off a check to CLOSBC for $25 (or more), I suspect we could quickly help them pay off this debt. I've made my donation at the CLOSBC website. How about you?

Redondo shouldn't let opera go

I think Redondo Beach shouldn't have evicted the Civic Light Opera from their performing arts center. The Civic Light Opera provides a valuable service to the South Bay. It's a win/win for the city and the community. To lose a performing arts group to other venues in the surrounding area is a real loss to Redondo Beach. The productions the Civic Light Opera provides are great and going there sure beats driving up to venues in downtown Los Angeles or Hollywood.

I hope Redondo Beach and the opera can reach an agreement. Certainly Redondo Beach can give some latitude for the arts.
