CLO Executive Producers Club Tours New Lawndale Theater
LAWNDALE — Members of the Civic Light Opera Executive Producers Club were given an exclusive, sneak preview of the replacement venue in Lawndale by James A. Blackman III, Executive Producer and Founder of the Civic Light Opera of South Bay Cities.
Based on tonight’s positive reaction, with members rising to their feet at times, welcoming James and the new theater with standing ovations, the mood remained conservative yet highly optimistic. James gave two separate tours of the beautiful new theater. Members were given access to the theater from the balcony to the stage. The 1200 seat, state of the art theater features a hydraulically driven, rising and lowering Orchestra Pit, a sweeping, large balcony and a state of the art sound system. The Orchestra Pit compliments the stellar acoustics that will showcase the world class performances the CLO is known for. There simply is not a bad seat in the house with excellent sightlines throughout. Comfortable seats with generous room compliment the view of the stage from the balcony to the front row.
Sharing the excitement at the gathering, Chris Beyries, Managing Director of the CLO, was very pleased with the new facility, stating, “The modern technology of the new theater gives the CLO more freedom to create multilevel productions of unprecedented quality.”
Gathered In the balcony, the CLO Executive Producers Club listened as James Blackman spoke enthusiastically about the new venue. With the beautiful new theater as his backdrop, it was easy to see why he and the many who came to the preview are so optimistic about the future of the Civic Light Opera. Jose Fernandez, Superintendent of the Centinela Valley Union High School District spoke at the gathering as well, providing detail about the collaboration between the CLO the School District and the City of Lawndale.
